Joyce's Maple Shortbread

2 sticks butter

¼ cup maple syrup

1/3 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon maple flavoring

2 ½ cups flour

1)      Preheat oven to 300°F

2)      Cream together butter, maple syrup, brown sugar, and maple flavoring until light and fluffy.  Add flour and mix well. 

3)      Roll dough out on lightly floured board to ¼ inch thick. 

4)      Using small cookie cutters, cut out and place on an ungreased baking sheet.  Use a small fork to make light dents in the cookie tops.  Sprinkle tops lightly with maple sugar.

5)      Bake 15 minutes.  Makes about fifty small cookies.
